Ham's F-12 Nutrient Mix was designed by Ham in 1969 based on Ham's F-10 Nutrient Mixture, initially for serum-free culture of CHO cells. Ham's F-12 is often used as a basic culture medium for serum-free culture, and is especially suitable for single-cell culture and clonal culture at low serum content, and is also widely used in the culture of cancer cells and primary cells after adding serum, such as rat liver cells, rat prostate epithelial cells, chondrocytes, rat myoblasts, chicken embryonic cells, etc. In addition, Ham's F-12 mixed with DMEM and other volumes results in a more nutrient-rich and widely used DMEM/F12 medium.
This product contains amino acids, vitamins, inorganic salts and other ingredients required for cell culture, but does not contain proteins, lipids or any growth factors, so the product needs to be used with serum or serum-free additives.
